African countries’ policy on the management of plastic bags is a central issue in terms of ecology and pollution. Some countries opt to ban their production and marketing while others implement recycling strategies.
In any case, plastic bag policy seems increasingly paramount. South Africa and Rwanda were the pioneers in banning them. Many countries have subsequently followed this movement, which has become a tidal wave on the continent. We are going to the field to investigate “The scourge of plastic bags” in Benin, Cameroon and Rwanda.
